  • Ross is a biodiversity and climate change specialist with over 35 years’ experience leading conservation and protected area projects across the Asia-Pacific. He brings both global expertise and deep local roots to advancing conservation, nature-based solutions and climate-positive landscapes in the region.

“Every time I look up from working in the garden or pause for a moment while walking on one of our trails, I never fail to be taken aback by the stunning landscapes of the Central Otago Lakes. What tempers this wonder is my professional understanding of what’s going on in those forests, lakes and valleys, and with the climate around us.  Tackling the dual biodiversity and climate crises unfolding around us motivates me professionally and personally. That QLDC has established the Climate Reference Group, and that our community has rallied around projects like the Southern Lakes Sanctuary and many other positive initiatives, shows me that together we can solve these problems in our region and contribute in a small but significant way globally. I’m delighted to contribute to that goal through the CRG.”
