  • We’re excited to introduce four new members to QLDC’s Climate Reference Group; each bringing a wealth of experience, fresh perspectives, and deep commitment to climate action. Their appointment follows a recent expressions of interest process that drew an inspiring mix of applicants from across Aotearoa. A huge thank you to everyone who put their hand up, your passion made the selection process both energising and incredibly tough.

After careful consideration, we’re thrilled to welcome:

Becky Lloyd: Former CEO of Toitū Envirocare and current Chair of the XRB Sustainability Reporting Board, Becky brings sharp insight into climate standards, carbon measurement, and decarbonisation across infrastructure and business.

Professor Sara Walton: A leading academic at the University of Otago, Sara’s work spans sustainable business, circular economies, and climate risk disclosure. She’s a nationally recognised researcher and advocate for regenerative economic systems.

Dr Ross Sinclair: With over 30 years of international experience, Ross has led major conservation and climate programmes for the World Bank, ADB, and UN agencies. He also lends his expertise locally as a technical advisor to the Southern Lakes Sanctuary.

Jane Lloyd: A global expert in climate change, food systems, and public health, Jane has worked with governments, NGOs, and research organisations. Now based in Wānaka, she’s actively involved with the Southern Lakes Kai Collective and Climate Resilience Group.

We’re looking forward to the mahi ahead as the Climate Reference Group continues to guide the delivery of the Climate & Biodiversity Plan and strengthen partnerships across the district and beyond.

Thank you!
