Tucker Beach

Tucker Beach Wildlife Management Reserve has undergone a remarkable shift in just a few years, from a neglected, weed‑covered landscape to a thriving ecosystem alive with native birds, lizards, and community activity. What was once a little‑known, often‑misused area is now a place where people come to walk, learn, and reconnect with the Kimiakau/Shotover River.

This transformation has been driven by the Tucker Beach Wildlife Trust, local volunteers, schools, conservation partners, and support from Jobs for Nature. Their collective mahi is restoring habitat, protecting wildlife, and honouring the cultural significance of this dynamic river margin.
